ABBA Optical, Inc., Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a proficiency in the Gas Permeable contact lens section and clinic
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

The Abel Family Optometry Scholarship

  • Preference given to the highest GPA in CEVS coursework after completing all sections
  • Scholarship given by 8/15

Clark F. Amos Optometry Presidential Scholarship

  • Award provided to fourth year professional program student pursuing an optometric residency
  • Apply by 4/15 Scholarship given 5/15

Drs. John & Catherine Amos Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given 8/15

Dr. John F. Amos School of Optometry Scholarship Fund

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

The Arol Augsburger, O.D. Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given 8/15

Azman Optometry Scholarship

  • Award provided to third year student in the professional program in the area of contact lenses
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Also required to write a paper
  • Award given at the beginning of the fall term of student’s fourth year

The Birmingham Area Optometric Society Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference will be given to residents of the Greater Birmingham Area
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

Richard B. Booth Optometry Scholarship

  • Open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Preference given to residents of the state of Tennessee
  • Apply by 2/12 Scholarship given by 3/15

Helen and David Bunkin Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

 Dr. Lester Caplan/CIBA Vision Corporation Scholarship

  • Awarded to fourth year professional program students
  • Interest must be in cornea/contact lenses or clinical excellence in cornea/contact lenses
  • Student must be in top 20% of class
  • 1-3 scholarships given
  • Given in the fall. Selection made by Faculty Committee

Dr. Cheryl J. Cheatham Endowed Optometry Scholarship Fundraising Account

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

Dr. Elbert A. (Bert) Coshatt Alumni Optometry Scholarship

  • Award based on financial need
  • All professional program students eligible
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

The Bob and Hulene Crosby Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

Dr. Ernest DeBakey Optometry  Scholarship

  • Preference given to all South Alabama Students enrolled in the professional program
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

The Lee Dickerson  Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated a proficiency in the GP contact lens section and clinic
  • Given in the fall. Selection made by Faculty Committee

Energen/Alagasco Optometry Scholarship

  • Provides award to the extent permitted by law
  • Preference will be given to applicants from under-represented, low-income and
  • Minority populations, whose enrollment and academic performance would enhance the diversity of the student population of UABSO
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

Essilor of America Endowed Optomery Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated clinical skill in Primary Care and Ophthalmic Optics
  • Preference will also be given to third year students
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

The Faculty of Optometry and Vision Sciences Student Optometry Scholarship

  • Open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

  • Provides award to first year professional program student in good standing, based on financial need
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 2/12 Scholarship given by 3/15

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB

  • Award provided to students in the professional program
  • Preference given to residents of Louisiana

  • Open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

Dr. Henry B. Peters Optometry Scholarship

  • Provides award to all students enrolled in the professional program
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

Frederic and Marion Rosemore Family Foundation Scholarship

  • Award provided to outstanding third or fourth year students in the professional program in the area of primary care
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • 1-3 scholarships given in the amount of $1,000
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

The Smith-Hammonds Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA 
  • Preference will be given to students who demonstrate an interest in low vision optometry or students with financial need
  • Preference will also be given to students from Virginia, South Carolina or Alabama
  • Applications for consideration should be submitted to the UAB School of Optometry Office of Development by the announced deadline

Southern Council of Optometrists, Inc.  Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA demonstrating solid academic achievement
  • Preference will be given to students from the southeastern states
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

VSP Scholarship & VSP- Henry B. Peters Optometry Scholarship

  • Awards given to students enrolled in the professional program whose GPA at the beginning of the 4th year is in the top half of the class (one student selected for each of the above scholarships)
  • Scholarship given by 8/1

Edgar M. Warr, O.D. Alumni Optometry Scholarship

  • Award given to all students enrolled in the professional program
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

Dr. Bradford W. Wild Optometry Scholarship

  • Award open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Apply by 7/16 Scholarship given by 8/15

John A. Williamson Optometry Scholarship

  • Award given to first year professional program student in good standing, based on financial need
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA

Dr. Paul S. Worrell  Endowed Optometry Vision Science  Scholarship

  • Award open to all students
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA

Sylvia D. Worrell Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must currently be enrolled in, or admited to, The School of Optometry
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA demonstrating solid academic achievement

Carl Zeiss Vision Endowed Optometry Scholarship

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or admitted to, The School of Optometry at UAB
