UAB, as a receiver of federal contract funds, is compliant with federal contract regulations, and UAB requires the same of its subcontractors. The requirements for a prime contractor as well as a subcontractor are listed below.
Central Contractor Registration (CCR), the primary registrant database for the U.S. Federal Government, collects, validates, stores, and disseminates data in support of agency acquisition missions. UAB is registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) as is any institution or entity conducting business with the U.S. Federal Government.
The Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number is a unique nine digit identification number provided to a registered entity by Dun & Bradstreet. The federal government requires that all applicants for grants and contracts have a DUNS number. The federal government will use the DUNS number to better identify related organizations that are receiving federal funding. UAB has ONLY one DUNS number – 063690705.
Representations and Certifications
Federal Representations and Certifications ensure an entity’s compliance with specific federal regulatory requirements, applicable laws, and rules (i.e., Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer, Drug Free Workplace policy/program, approved Public Health Services (PHS) Assurance of Compliance with the Animal Welfare Act).
UAB must also ensure that the appropriate Representations and Certifications (Reps and Certs) of subcontractors under federal awards are filed with the federal government. Institution compliance can be determined by checking the federal website: https://orca.bpn.gov/ (OSP Officer will check and follow up to ensure compliance).
