Mohamad
A. Eloubeidi was born and raised in Beirut Lebanon. He completed
his undergraduate work and medical school at the American University
of Beirut, in Beirut, Lebanon in 1993. He subsequently traveled
to the United States to complete his postgraduate training. He completed
categorical internal medicine internship and residency and a 3-year
Gastroenterology Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in
Durham, N.C. At the same time, he completed a fellowship in Health
Services Research and Development and earned a masters degree in
clinical research from the Duke Clinical Research Institute and
the Durham VA Medical Center. He subsequently completed an Advanced
Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship (focus on endoscopic ultrasound)
under the leadership of Drs. Peter Cotton, Robert Hawes, Brenda
Hoffman and Michael Wallace at the Medical University of South Carolina.
In July 2000, he was recruited by the Division of Gastroenterology
and Hepatology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham to establish
the first Endoscopic Ultrasound Program. He is currently the Director
of the Endoscopic Ultrasound Program, and the Co-Director of the
Pancreaticobiliary Center. He is actively involved in clinical research
relating to endoscopic ultrasound as well as gastrointestinal malignancies
focusing on premalignant GI tract lesions, esophageal cancer, colon
cancer and pancreatic cancer.
