Scott Arnold joined the faculty of UAB in 1982. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973 and his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1979.

Dr. Arnold's most recent publicaiton is Imposing Values: Liberalism and Regulation (Oxford University Press, 2009). For a synposis of the book click here. Dr. Arnold is also the author of  Marx's Radical Critique of Capitalist Society (Oxford University Press, 1990) and The Philosophy and Economics of Market Socialism, (Oxford University Press, 1994).  Along with Theodore M. Benditt and George Graham, he is an editor of Philosophy Then and Now (Blackwell, 1998).
