What do I have to get on the final to make an A (B, C, or D)?
The final is worth 30 points.
Take the following steps to figure how many points out of 30 you need.
1. Gather all your quiz and homework grades.
2. Figure each on a 10 point scale. Example: 18/20 = 9
14/20 = 7
9/10 = 9
25/25 = 10
12/20 = 6
20/20 = 10
14.5/20= 7.25
10/10 = 10
16/20 = 8
3. Select highest 7. 9 +9+10+7.25+10+10+8 = 63.25
4. Add.
5. Subtract the total from 90. 90 63.25 = 26.75
(This student needs to score roughly 27 points out of 30, or 90 % on the final, to get an A)
In short, to get an A, you must score x/30 points on the final, where
x = 90 (your highest 7 grades)
If x >30, an A is not possible for you this time.
For a B, subtract from 80.
For a C, subtract from 70.
For a D, subtract from 60.
