Data Protection and Security Policy
Data (electronic) created at UAB must be protected and maintained in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and university policies.
Death of Employee / Dependent / Beneficiary - HR Policy 313
This policy explains the process of collecting benefits upon the death of an active employee, an employee on leave of absence, a retired employee. Copies of death certificates of spouses or dependents should be turned in to the Human Resources Benefits Office. Deaths of a person named as a primary or contingent beneificiary on a UAB employee's policy, should be reported to the Benefits Office.
Department of Occupational Health and Safety Policy for Termination of Laboratory Use of Hazardous Materials
This policy details the requirement of proper disposal of all hazardous materials used in UAB laboratories. In addition to designated responsibility and consequences of improper disposal, this policy includes step by step closeout procedures for hazardous materials.
Direct Costs Policy
All costs gained for the same purpose in like circumstances must be treated as either direct or indirect costs. Direct costs are those costs specified or directly assigned to a sponsored project, instructional activity, or institutional activity. Indirect costs are those that are cannot be matched to a sponsored project, instructional activity, or institutional activity.
