POLICY STATEMENT
THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AT BIRMINGHAM
DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS


Subject: Use of Pyrotechnics


  1. In compliance with Alabama State Code 8-17-210-241 and Sections 11-8-21 and 11-6-37 of the Birmingham City Code, the University of Alabama at Birmingham does not permit the use of fireworks by UAB students, student organizations, or committees without a licensed professional and approval by the Office of Risk Management and Insurance.
  2. To obtain prior approval, submit a request in writing to the Office of Risk Management 30 days prior to the event.
  3. If approval is granted, written evidence of approval must be registered in Room 136 of the Hill University Center ten (10) days prior to the event.
  4. Violators of this policy are subject to appropriate sanctions as outlined in UAB Division of Student Affairs policy SA VII-O08 or in the Conduct and Grievances section of the student handbook, Direction.
