HSROC: Treatment Guide: Follow Up/Other Needs

Follow-Up Visits
Once you have completed your treatment regimen, you will be scheduled for follow-up visits with your doctor. The visits may include radiographic or laboratory studies. These visits are important for tracking your progress and providing you with the opportunity to exchange information and share concerns with your physician.

Brachytherapy Follow-up Visits
You will have a follow-up visit after treatment. This visit is a time for your physician to review your progress and for you to discuss needs and concerns. A nurse will also provide education about comfort, diet, and address any questions you might have. For more information on Brachytherapy, please click here.

Phone Contact
You are encouraged to call the nursing staff with any questions or concerns. When you call the clinic, you will be asked to leave your name, return phone number, and a brief description of the nature of the call. Your call will be returned by the end of the business day. The nursing staff will confer with your physician regarding your needs.

Nursing Social Services
The nursing staff can help patients identify and access patient resources. Services include referrals for local lodging for out of town patients, care and equipment in the home, financial issues, and social security disability. Furthermore, the nursing staff can provide assistance in accessing complex healthcare systems, state and federal resources, and prescription assistance programs.

Symptom Management
The nursing staff is trained to assist you with pain, nausea and vomiting, and other side effects that may arise during your treatment. The nursing staff is available to you by phone or in person during any of your treatment visits.
