Summary Information

This is a two-year postdoctoral research training program funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute.  The program provides research training under the mentorship of faculty either at UAB or at HudsonAlpha, as well as experience in analysis and interpretation of genomic data, such as whole genome sequencing.  This is also a program that includes seminars on genomics and bioethics as well as experiences in genomic laboratories and clinics.

Postdoctoral trainees must have received, as of the beginning date of the NRSA appointment, a Ph.D., M.D., D.D.S., or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution. Comparable doctoral degrees include, but are not limited to, the following: D.M.D., D.C., D.O., D.V.M., O.D., D.P.M., Sc.D., Eng.D., Dr. P.H., D.N.Sc., D.P.T., Pharm.D., N.D. (Doctor of Naturopathy), D.S.W., Psy.D, as well as a doctoral degree in nursing research. Documentation by an authorized official of the degree-granting institution certifying all degree requirements have been met prior to the beginning date of the training appointment is acceptable. Individuals in postgraduate clinical training, who wish to interrupt their studies for a year or more to engage in full-time research training before completing their formal training programs, are also eligible. Must be a U.S. Citizen, noncitizen national, or have permanent resident status.

UAB- HudsonAlpha Center for Genomic Medicine is accepting application for our UAB-HA Genomic Medicine Post-Doctoral Training program from trainees who are interested in pursuing a career in Genomic Medicine. The purpose of this training grant is to recruit postdoctoral trainees from various disciplines and provide mentorship and clinical research training in genomic medicine.

Support for trainees: Postdoctoral trainees will receive a monthly stipend, tuition and fees assistance, health insurance and travel funds (at NIH-defined level).
