Fulbright Opportunities in Sustainable Development in the Western Hemisphere

UAB Students!  The 2018-19 Core Fulbright U.S Scholar Program competition is now open and accepting applications for awards in Sustainable Development and Sustainability!  The Institute of International Education's Council for International Exchange of Scholars administers the Fulbright Scholar Program on behalf of the United States Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
 
Opportunities in sustainable development in the Western Hemisphere include:
 
This opportunity allows scholars to teach or teach and conduct research at the University of Belize (UB). UB's goals are to encourage sustainable development, increase self-sustainability, and prepare Belize to meet global challenges. Among the preferred disciplines are environmental sciences, education, medical sciences, biological sciences and agriculture. 
 
Applicants to this award may propose a two to nine month-long teaching and/or research grant at any appropriate institution of higher education. The program's priority areas include economic development, public health, sustainable development, ecology, education and rural development.
 
Up to five grants are available to conduct research or teach and conduct research in a number of fields related to sustainability, including environmental sciences, clean energy, water management and quality and sociology.
 
The primary objective of this Distinguished Chair is to promote, communicate and exchange new academic and research developments in the fields of biodiversity and sustainability. The successful candidate will research or teach and conduct research for four to six months at the National University of Colombia in Bogota.
 
Honduras: All Disciplines 
This award gives scholars the opportunity to teach and/or research at institutions of higher education, NGOs or research centers. Priority specializations include sustainable local development, sustainability of production processes and sustainable management of forest ecosystems.
