Initial IRB Training

Initial IRB Training

Initial IRB Training

The IRB initial training course titled Investigator 101 will no longer be offered. After a recent review of the course combined with the newly released revisions to the Common Rule (the regulation governing federally funded human subject research), the Office of the IRB considered the material outdated. All investigators who have previously completed the course will receive credit for initial IRB training.

Should I complete UAB IRB training?

UAB personnel and students should complete any one (1) of the options listed below to fulfill the 4-credit requirement for initial IRB training. Click the course names for descriptions and instructions.
Non-UAB research personnel who are covered by the UAB IRB through an Individual Investigator Agreement (IIA) should complete the Community Based Participatory Research course. This course does not satisfy any training requirement for UAB personnel and students.
