The IRB intial training
course titled Investigator 101 will be closing for maintenance on Tuesday,
December, 20, 2016. The course will re-open for enrollment on Tuesday, January
17, 2017. All users who have started, but not completed the entire course must
complete all remaining modules by 4pm on Monday, December, 19, 2016. If you do
not complete the course by that time, any previously completed modules will be
lost and you will have to re-start the course.
All key personnel must complete an initial training course. If this is your first time to complete training, click here to see initial training options accepted by the UAB IRB. This link also includes information regarding UAB’s acceptance of previous training completed at another institution.
After key personnel have completed initial training, they must complete a continuing training option in subsequent training periods.
You will need to complete the continuing training course for the 2015-2017 period if your initial training was prior to January 1, 2015. If you completed initial training for the first time on January 1, 2015 or later, there is no need to complete continuing training in the 2015-2017 training period.
All UAB investigators and staff involved in clinical trials, regardless of funding source, are required to meet the NIH policy regarding GCP training for basic GCP training and refresher GCP training every three years. The policy can be found at Policy on Good Clinical Practice Training for NIH Awardees Involved in NIH-funded Clinical Trials; NOT-OD-16-148. Current GCP training (taken within the past three years) will be required for new protocols submitted to the Office of the IRB as of January 1, 2017. Ongoing protocols must meet this requirement by February 28, 2017.
