Topping out ceremony

Topping out ceremonyThe final top beam to the two-floor addition to the School of Health Professions Building was put in place today in a “topping out” ceremony on Monday, May 7, 2012. SHP faculty, staff and students signed the beam along with employees of the contractor, Harbert International, LLC last week. The group watched as crews hoisted the beam to the top with a UAB flag attached.

An Executive Learning Center will serve as the centerpiece to seat about 100 students as well as separate break out rooms.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a....crane!

Crane being put together in front of SHP buildingThe skyline around the School of Health Professions Building (SHPB) is looking a little different lately. For weeks, construction crews from B.L. Harbert International of Birmingham have been prepping to begin the work to add two floors to SHPB. On Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, crews began assembling the huge crane to be used during construction of the additional floors.
