Voting will take place online. Each candidate will have a bio and a headshot for staff to review before submitting their vote. Elected representatives serve a two-year term starting in August of the election year. To learn more about our election process, please see the UAB Staff Council Bylaws.

Candidates and statements for the 2026-2028 Staff Council are available for review.

2026 Election Dates & Details

  • March 31 – April 14: Nominations open
  • April 15 – 28: Candidate review and approval
  • May 11 – 18: Elections opened
  • June: Election results announced
  • August 2026: New term begins

Qualifications

  • Have been employed as a staff member at UAB for at least 12 consecutive months (as of the date of nomination)
  • Be in good standing with the University and their department
  • Have supervisor approval for the time commitment required for Staff Council activities
  • Be prepared to represent all UAB staff in their unit
  • Be willing to attend monthly meetings (1.5 hours on the last Wednesday of the month) and to take an active role in council orientation and committee activities
