Welcome

Alabama Power has notified UAB officially that it cannot provide steam to us, the VA Hospital, and the Southern Research Institute and will discontinue service as of February 12, 2013.   After careful investigation and feasibility studies, UAB determined it would build its own Steam Generation Plant, alongside the existing Alabama Power Plant and will install a new steam and condensate recovery piping systems network.

Not all of the steam piping will be run in the streets.  Some will be in sidewalks and landscaped areas.  In addition, we will be adding  essential equipment whereby we may collect condensate from the University’s buildings to increase efficiency and decrease our environmental footprint.
