Common at UAB to talk some sense
If you're a UAB student and you don't know that Common is coming to campus, we can only assume that you've been staring straight at the ground as you walk around, because the signs announcing his visit are everywhere.
Nevertheless, here's one more reminder that the "King of Conscious Hip-Hop" -- the Grammy award-winning rapper (also author and actor) -- Common will deliver a lecture Monday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
Common's lecture is titled "One Day It'll All Make Sense," which is also the name of his memoir (you can pick up a copy from the UAB Bookstore in HUC) and his 1997 album (listen to it on Spotify).
Students, faculty, and staff can attend the event for free, but you'll still need to pick up tickets in advance at the HUC info desk. Additional tickets for the public can be purchased for $10.
The event is part of UAB's Black History Month celebrations, as well as the 50 Years Forward commemoration of the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement.
