Diem Brown to share inspirational message at UAB
Diem Brown, a six-time competitor on MTV's "The Challenge," will speak at UAB Tuesday, March 12 as part of Women's History Month.
Brown is known for her public battle with Ovarian Cancer which she has sticken her not only once, but twice. Her first diagnosis came at the age of 23, while she appeared on the "Real World/Road Rules Challenge." During chemotherapy treatment, Diem became depressed but she found an inspirational spark and created an innovative, successful company called Med Gift.
MedGift.com is a patient gift registry, which works just like a wedding gift registry, but instead of giving a blender to a bride your gift is instead geard toward helping those with medical needs.
Med Gift focuses on patients of all kinds—from cancer patients to car accident victims. A patient can list out their needs and wants while they are receiving treatment or in recovery. The Patient Gift Registry allows loved ones to contribute toward items the patient lists, such as medical bills, babysitting, groceries, wigs, rides to and from treatment, or prayers.
Brown's UAB appearance will focus on how to turn ideas into reality despite obstacles. She will speak at noon in the Great Hall of Hill University Center. Admission is free.
