Guest chef to prepare special Finnish meal at The Commons

global-chef-finlandChef Mikko Hartikainen from Finland will share the flavors of his country during a Global Dining event hosted by UAB Campus Restaurants. He will be preparing lunch Thursday, February 20 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Grill station of The Commons on the Green.

The following day, you can also meet Chef Hartikainen during the Step Up to Wellness Fair. There he will prepare a clear salmon soup, then participate in a meet-and-greet Q&A about fitness in Finland. The 10th annual health fair will be held Friday, February 21 at the Campus Recreation Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and you can catch our visiting Finnish chef from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Chef Hartikainen has provided food service to international peacekeeping operations, catered at European Union Summits, and cooked for Nokia Corporate parties and events in the span of his 17-years career. Though he has not yet revealed what he'll be cooking when he visits The Commons, his keywords of cooking are fresh ingredients, simple, and delicious. He makes these happen by using fresh and local ingredients from Finland for his cuisines.
