Receive academic advising and develop academic plan

Here it is: your future. And it’s all planned out at orientation. It’s not scary or permanent—you’ll meet with your academic advisor to talk about your goals, strengths, and interests to develop a plan for success at UAB. (Success!) We really want to support your success in every way—we recommend that you make an individual appointment to talk with your advisor before coming to orientation.

Whether you talk on the phone or in person, you’ll want to ask questions about potential majors, degree requirements, good classes to enroll in for your first semester, placement tests, and anything else that’s on your mind. Find out who your academic advisor will be and make contact—it’s one of the most important connections you’ll make at UAB.

If you change your major after being accepted, notify us at least one week before attending orientation. Call the Admissions Office at 205-934-8221.
