Receive academic advising and develop academic plan

Here it is: your future. And it’s all planned out at orientation. It’s not scary or permanent—you’ll meet with your academic advisor to talk about your goals, strengths, and interests to develop a plan for success at UAB. (Success!)

If you're a new freshman, you'll meet with your academic advisor during Goin’ Green New Student Orientation and each semester after that. For transfer or returning students, we recommend that you make an individual appointment to talk with your advisor before coming to orientation.

You’ll want to ask your academic advisor questions about potential majors, degree requirements, good classes to enroll in for your first semester, placement tests, and anything else that’s on your mind. Build that relationship with your advisor from the start - it’s one of the most important connections you’ll make at UAB, and he or she will stick with you all the way to graduation.

Change your major online at or call the Admissions Office at 205-934-8221.
