How to get there: directions & parking for Orientation

Let's begin with the end in mind.


PARKING

Parking is available in Lot 15G (located at 800 12th Street South). You will be e-mailed an orientation parking pass to your UAB e-mail address 7 days before your orientation session. Be sure to print your pass and place it on your dashboard. Walk 1 block east to Check-In which will take place in the first floor lobby of Heritage Hall, located on the corner of University Blvd. and 14th Street South.
 

And now, the details on how to get here from there, wherever that may be.


DIRECTIONS:

From the South:  Exit I-65 at the University Boulevard/UAB exit. Merge onto University Boulevard (8th Avenue South) and proceed for approximately 2 blocks. Turn right onto 12th Street South. (You will turn between the University Boulevard Office Building and Young Memorial Baseball Field.) Pass the parking deck and turn left into the flat parking lot. Do not park in the parking deck. Be sure to display your orientation parking pass on your dashboard.


From the North:  Proceed through the I-20/I-59 interchange with I-65 and continue towards the south. After passing through the interchange, take the second exit (4th Avenue South). Proceed east along 4th Avenue until you reach 13th Street South. Turn right on 13th Street and proceed for approximately 5 blocks. Turn right onto University Boulevard (8th Avenue South). Turn left onto 12th Street South. (You will turn between the University Boulevard Office Building and Young Memorial Baseball Field.) Pass the parking deck and turn left into the flat parking lot. Do not park in the parking deck. Be sure to display your orientation parking pass on your dashboard.


From the East:  Proceed to the I-20/I-59 interchange with I-65 and merge off of I-59 onto I-65, heading south to Montgomery. On I-65, take the 4th Avenue South exit. Proceed along 4th Avenue South until you reach 13th Street South. Turn right on 13th Street and proceed approximately 5 blocks. Turn right onto University Boulevard (8th Avenue South). Turn left onto 12th Street South. (You will turn between the University Boulevard Office Building and Young Memorial Baseball Field.) Pass the parking deck and turn left into the flat parking lot. Do not park in the parking deck.  Be sure to display your orientation parking pass on your dashboard.

From the West on I-59:  Proceed to the I-20/I-59 interchange with I-65. Merge south towards Montgomery on I-65. Take the 4th Avenue South exit off of I-65. Proceed along 4th Avenue South until you reach 13th Street South. Turn right on 13th Street and proceed approximately 5 blocks. Turn right onto University Boulevard (8th Avenue South). Turn left onto 12th Street South. (You will turn between the University Boulevard Office Building and Young Memorial Baseball Field.) Pass the parking deck and turn left into the flat parking lot. From Hwy 280/31 (Red Mountain Expressway):  Take the University Boulevard/8th Avenue South Exit. Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp. Follow University Boulevard past UAB hospital all the way to 12th Street South. Turn left onto 12th Street South. (You will turn between the University Boulevard Office Building and Young Memorial Baseball Field.) Pass the parking deck and turn left into the flat parking lot. Do not park in the parking deck. Be sure to display your orientation parking pass on your dashboard.

From Birmingham International Airport (BHM):  Bear right on ramp to I-20 W (I-59 S). Go 4.7 miles. Bear left on Exit 124A, to I-65 South. From I-65, take the 4th Avenue South Exit. Proceed east along 4th Avenue until you reach 13th Street South. Turn right on 13th Street and proceed for approximately 5 blocks. Turn right onto University Boulevard (8th Avenue South). Turn left onto 12th Street South. (You will turn between the University Boulevard Office Building and Young Memorial Baseball Field.) Pass the parking deck and turn left into the flat parking lot.
