Hometown:  Birmingham, AL
Alma Mater:  UAB

Something you may not know about me:
UAB definitely played a huge part in shaping me from a shy kid in high school into an outgoing leader in my community. While a student at UAB, I received an mtvU grant in start-up funds which I used to create a mentoring organization for girls in my community. With the guidance of my professors and information learned from a UAB honors seminar on social entrepreneurship, I was able to start my initiative and lead a team of my peers as volunteers for the program.

Favorite food:
Vegetarian spaghetti. It’s delicious and healthy.

Favorite place on campus:
The University Honors House. It’s an all-in-one stop for university honors students, whether for work or play. Honors classes are held in the beautiful sanctuary of this historic church building. Plus, it includes the offices of honors professors, computer labs, meeting/seminar rooms, a kitchen, comfortable lounge areas, and game tables. Way to build community!

One thing I always mention to prospective students:
Take advantage of all UAB has to offer as the opportunities available to students in academics and student life are endless.

Favorite thing about Birmingham:
There’s nothing like the laid back vibe, southern hospitality, southern cooking, and southern charm here!
