To be eligible for academic scholarships at UAB, students must be admitted by December 1.
University Honors Program Scholarships
Three scholarships are awarded annually and are currently valued at $24,000, providing $6,000 per year for four years. All students applying for the University Honors Program are eligible and encouraged to apply for a Hess-Abroms Scholarship. In addition, the Hess-Abroms Scholarship may be added to other scholarships offered by UAB or external sources. An application form can be obtained during the student’s January interview. The Honors Council selects Hess-Abroms Scholarship awardees at the time applicants are selected for the entry into the program. Notification of the award accompanies the letter of offer for entry into the program.
Virginia B. and William M. Spencer III Scholarship
Five to eight scholarships valued between $1,000 and $2,000 each are awarded annually to students entering or currently in the UAB Honors Program. Selection is based on merit and need.
Rushton/Alabama Power Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $1,600 and awarded on the basis of merit and need.
Richard Crittenden Honors Scholarship
This scholarship is valued at $1,500 and awarded on the basis of merit and need.
Juliet Nunn-Pearson Scholarship
Three scholarships are valued at $1,000 each and are available for incoming freshman only.
Steven C. Smith Discovery Award
This scholarship is valued at $1,000 and awarded on the basis of merit and need.
Science and Technology Honors Program Scholarships
Wells Fargo Foundation Summer Scholars Academic Enrichment Awards
This program awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000 to current STHP students. These competitive, merit-based awards are used to support summer research and academic activities.
A call for applications for these awards will be announced to all current STHP students each year (typically in late February) along with the application instructions and deadline (typically mid-March).
