UAB by the Numbers

Academics

Step onto UAB’s campus, and you’ve entered a world where academics reign supreme.  UAB academic programs are housed in The College of Arts and Sciences and The Schools of Business, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry, and Public Health.  Our student body, at 16,874 students strong, enjoys a student-faculty ratio of 17 to 1, and 90 percent of those faculty hold a postgraduate or professional degree.  You’ll have abundant opportunities to work alongside our renowned faculty in more than 529,169 square feet of research lab space.  You can further your research by digging into more than 2,000,000 volumes held in our two libraries.

Exploring your academic interests is encouraged at UAB, where 3,100 fall classes are offered and 49 Undergraduate degree programs thrive.  And if that’s not enough, you can forge your own path with an Individually Designed Major.

If exploring the city is on your to-do list, you can start with the 86 blocks that make up UAB’s cosmopolitan campus.  But don’t worry; you won’t need hiking boots to get to class.  The dorms and undergraduate buildings are within blocks of one another.
