General Information/Eligibility
1. Freshmen
Freshmen are placed in the appropriate math course based on ACT or SAT math score and high school GPA.
2. Transfer Students/Freshmen who Have Completed a College Level Math Course
Students who have completed a college level math course (not remedial college math) with a grade of ‘C’ or better are not required to take the Math Placement Exam.
3. Students who took Calculus AP in High School
Students who took Calculus AP in high school may receive college credit at UAB with the appropriate AP score.
4. Students Who Have Not Completed a College Level Math Course or Freshmen Admitted With a COMPASS score
Students who have not completed a college level math course or freshmen admitted with a COMPASS score are required to take the Math Placement Exam.
