Jeff McKee is the department’s Stage Electric Coordinator, overseeing the sound and lighting systems as well as all things electric for the department's productions. He also serves as an adjunct professor for both the UAB Theatre and UAB Music Departments, teaching Advanced Audio Theory, Sound Design, Audio Production, and Recording Technology l & II.

Jeff has worked professionally in the audio and recording industry for over 25 years. Prior to his time at UAB, he was an engineer and business partner at Boutwell Recording Studios where he produced and engineered radio and television commercials as well as sound design and audio-visual projects. While at Boutwell, Jeff engineered and helped produce UAB’s Theatre Department nationally renowned radio drama BODYLOVE, directed by Will York, written by Lee Shackleford, and starring Cheryl Hall.

Jeff came to the Theatre Department by way of the Alys Stephens Center. While with the ASC Jeff was Stage Manager for many productions including Vince Gill, The Pointer Sisters, One Republic, and Ira Glass. He also mixed audio for Seth Myers, David Sedaris, MASS Ensemble / Earth Harp, The Joshua Bailey Trio, Neo Jazz Collective, Rick Carter and the Legionary Artists, The Martini Shakers, and various theatrical and University events. In addition, Jeff worked with lighting for Joan Rivers, Chris Isaak, and Disney's Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve. Jeff is proficient in sound system design and installation and involved in technical training and teaching voice-over seminars.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Huntingdon College. He is an Avid Certified Instructor and a Certified Pro Tools User.
