Mission and Demographics

The mission of the Environment Awareness Research Technology and Health (EARTH) Center is to aggressively address environmental awareness, research, technology, and health issues as a partner with industry and government.  The Center has numerous appointed faculty for the various schools at UAB. 

Center Research and Activities 

            To accomplish its mission, the Center is organized into five divisions which represent major areas of endeavor in environmental affairs.  The five areas encompass: 1) environmental issues concerning socio-economic factors and resource management; 2) awareness of environmental issues and perspectives through formal instruction, published literature, seminars and avant-garde routes embodied by modern telecommunications; 3) research into environmentally related subjects; 4) technology transfer of sustainable technologies and evaluation of the impacts of technology on the environment; and 5) health effects of products, technologies, and practices which directly and indirectly impact ecosystem (including human) health.
