The mission of the Center for Nursing Research (CNR) is to
initiate, innovate, facilitate and support the development, implementation and
evaluation of nursing and healthcare research that can improve the health,
well-being and quality-of-life for individuals, families and communities.
Center
Research
The Center provides research support and development for
University of Alabama School of Nursing at Birmingham (UASON) faculty. Services
provided by the Center include grant preparation (e.g., application
preparation, budget development, institutional grant processing, and
statistical consultation), pre-award management, post-award management (e.g.,
hiring personnel, budget forecasting), and editorial services for research
grant review. The CNR staff also provides
development of measurement tools using Teleform
technology.
Facilities include a 20,000 square
foot building and annex which houses the CNR staff offices, research offices,
and interview rooms.
Training
The Center provides research development
and support for the recipients of the annual Dean’s Scholar Awards. The Center also supports Research Interest
Group (RIG) activities. The CNR sponsors
the CNR Endowed Chair Lecture Series highlighting the research activities of the SON Endowed
Chairs. In addition, it fosters the
exchange of information and highlights recent faculty scholarly accomplishments
and grant submissions through its monthly CNR Newsletter. The CNR Newsletter is available on the
UASON-CNR website.
