Summer Research Expo 2013

The Summer Research Expo showcases the research produced by UAB undergraduates and students in UAB summer research programs.

The 2013 Poster Session will be held on Thursday, July 25th at the Edge of Chaos on the 4th floor of Lister Hill Library 

IMPORTANT DATES

July 17th - Students must submit their abstract by noon.

July 25th - Students must arrive at Edge of Chaos by 8am

COMPETITION AREA

All students must choose a Competition Area their poster will be submitted under for Judging. The choices are Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, Social & Behavioral Sciences, and Public Health, and Service Learning and HAC projects. (Some of these areas may be combined, divided into sessions (e.g., Life Sciences I, Life Sciences II, etc.) or eliminated based on the number of submissions. If so, the closest related Competition Area will be assigned to the student.)


ABSTRACTS

Abstracts are due by noon on Wednesday, July 17th. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words. All students not in a Summer Research Program should use the Abstract link below to submit an abstract. You must have a blazerid to access the form.  Fill out the form and make sure you click save when finished. You will receive a confirmation email if you were sucessful.

POSTERS

All posters must be 48" x 36". The students and/or their Summer Research Program will be responsible for the printing of the posters.

Students must bring their posters to the poster session at the The Edge of Chaso by 8:00 am on July 25th.

Guest Speaker 

Dr. David Sweatt Evelyn F. McKnight Chair, Dept of Neurobiology at UAB
David Sweatt obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of South Alabama before attending Vanderbilt University, where he was awarded a Ph.D. for studies of intracellular signaling mechanisms.  He then did a post-doctoral Fellowship at the Columbia University Center for Neurobiology and Behavior, working on memory mechanisms in the laboratory of Nobel laureate Eric Kandel.
