CATCHING UP WITH THE UAB-UTC INTERNS...
Crystal Franklin
Ms. Crystal Franklin is a UAB UTC intern for the Summer of 2009. Crystal is a student in the UAB School of Public Health (UAB SOPH), Department of Epidemiology, and plans to graduate in August with her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology.
Crystal graduated Cum Laude from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL in 2004 with a BA in Biology. She has since worked in a surgical pathology lab, but involvement in the UTC-affiliated Injury Epidemiology class made her aware of injury, particularly motor vehicle related injury, as a serious public health problem. This realization brought her to the UAB UTC to further her study of transportation-related injury epidemiology.
Crystal enjoys meeting new people and speaking with crowds and hopes to utilize these skills in her future work in public health. In her free time, she enjoys domestic and international traveling, animals, and water sports such as SCUBA.
