ENROLLING VASCULAR RESEARCH STUDIES

CREST: Carotid Revascularization Endartectomy vs. Stenting Trial
Purpose: To study the relative efficacy of carotid artery stenting vs. carotid
endartectomy (surgery) in preventing stroke and death during the 30-day
peri-procedural period, & stroke to the opposite site of the study artery over
the follow-up period in patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic extra-
cranial (outside the skull) carotid stenosis.

CAPTURE: A Post-Approval Study of the Guidant Carotid Stent Systems
and Embolic Protection Systems (Carotid RX ACCULINK/ACCUNET
Post-Approval Trial to Uncover Unanticipated and Rare
Events – “CAPTURE”)
Purpose: To collect post-approval data on the FDA-approved ACCULINK™
and RX ACCULINK Carotid Stent Systems and FDA 510(k)-cleared
ACCUNET™ and RX ACCUNET Embolic (moving blood clots) Protection
Systems, when used by a broad group of physicians under commercial use
conditions.

CASES-PMS: Carotid Artery Stenting with Embolic Protection
Surveillance – Post Marketing Study

This is an experimental procedure that is being investigated as an alternative
to carotid artery surgery for narrowed carotid arteries.
