Ona Faye-Petersen Recognized for her leadership with Suits 4 Success

Long-time member of the UAB Commission on the Status of Women, Dr. Ona Faye-Petersen was recognized on January 18, 2012 for her leadership of the Suits 4 Success campaign to benefit the My Sister’s Closet program of the YWCA of Central Alabama. 

This campus-wide clothing drive provides working apparel, shoes and accessories to women transitioning into the workforce.  Over the past five years, Dr. Faye-Petersen has spearheaded this campus and community effort bringing national attention the UAB School of Medicine with a nomination for the prestigious Association of American Medical Colleges Spencer Foreman Award for Outstanding Community Service.  Each year dozens of wardrobe boxes filled with clothing are donated to My Sister’s Closet make it possible for women from the YWCA’s various programs to get ready for job interviews and steady employment.
