My mom is my role model, and she helped me through so much while we were in school together.
My favorite UAB memory is graduating in the same ceremony as my mom. She was working toward her master’s in nursing while I was earning my bachelor’s in health care management. When my mom walked across the stage, I remember feeling so proud of her and cheering her on—and she did the same for me. My mom is my role model, and she helped me through so much while we were in school together. That was a very special moment for both of us—one I will never forget. We are ever faithful and ever loyal to UAB.

The Hoover, Alabama, residents also both work in health care: Lindsey is quality improvement coordinator at Medical West while Marites focuses on infection prevention at UAB Hospital.
