Ronan O'Beirne, Roger Clark & Bob Norman
They literally thought that we were a family and not this odd group of people that worked together, studied together, and interacted.
—Ronan O'Beirne hails from Dublin, Ireland, and was a student-athlete on the UAB soccer team from 1986 to 1990, when he received a bachelor's degree in business. Since then he has earned two master's degrees from UAB—in business administration in 1994 and in information engineering and management in 2003. He currently serves as UAB's director of Continuing Medical Education.
Roger Clark also played on the UAB soccer team for three years and graduated in 1986 with a degree in urban affairs. He also was one of the first five graduates from the University Honors Program. He currently does construction and has been waiting tables at Bottega Cafe for almost 30 years.
Bob Norman was born in Illinois but moved to Birmingham when his father retired from the Air Force. An Auburn graduate, he came to UAB to earn a master's degree in physical education in 1977. He served as assistant coach for men's soccer from 1978 to 1979 and as head coach from 1981 to 1989. He spent a total of 15 years at UAB.
