During the period the university is closed for the holidays, we want to ensure that any donor needing assistance with a year-end gift will have adequate information to allow them to contact a member of the Office of Advancement. Outlined below are the procedures we will follow for handling any year-end gifts. For more information regarding wiring instructions and stock transfers, please reach out to us at gifts@uab.edu.
- Wednesday, December 24, Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26: UAB Closed
- Wednesday, December 31: Gift Records office closes at 5 p.m. CST
- Wednesday, December 24: Stock market closes at noon
- Thursday, December 25: Stock market closed
- Thursday, January 1, and Friday, January 2: UAB Closed
- Wednesday, December 31: Checks must be dated, and envelopes postmarked by a mail carrier on or before this date to receive potential 2025 tax credit
- Wednesday, December 31 at 11:59 p.m.: Deadline to make online contribution and receive potential 2025 tax credit
- Thursday, January 8: All year-end mail must be delivered to Gift Records by 5 p.m. CST
Because all year-end gifts must be received (and credit cards processed) by December 31, we highly recommend that donors be directed to go online to make a gift at www.uab.edu/onlinegiving or your specific school giving page. Remember, online processing is real time, so gifts transacted online by 11:59 p.m. CST on Wednesday, December 31 will meet the year-end processing requirement. Any credit card gifts subsequently received will be 2026 gifts.
If donors would still prefer to mail their gift to us, please encourage them to mail these gifts directly to Gift Records well before December 31. Checks that are not mailed must be received by a UAB employee by 11:59 p.m. CST on Wednesday, December 31. The markets close for 2025 securities donations Wednesday, December 31 at 3 p.m. CST. We request that checks are mailed to Gift Records at our address below, however if they are received by someone in your office, we ask you deliver those checks to UAB Gift Records the next business day. All year-end mail must be delivered to Gift Records by 5 p.m. CST Thursday, January 8.

FOR FUNDRAISERS
All are encouraged to leave their cell phone number on their voicemail and instruct donors to call them directly to assist in making a year-end gift. You may also leave the Gift Records number on your voicemail and instruct donors to call Gift Records directly for immediate assistance in making a year-end gift.
Stock transfer instructions and wiring instructions for use by any donors who wish to make a stock gift as well as our wiring instructions can be found under Gift & Biographical Records Links & Documents on our MyAdvancement site. If this stock information is sent to you, please promptly email it to Gift Records (gifts@uab.edu) and Libby Morgan (esmorgan@uab.edu) to ensure timely processing.
