Congratulations to Lauren Cooper, who has been promoted to Senior Director of Communications and Annual Giving.

In this role, Lauren oversees a broad range of marketing, communications, and annual giving efforts for UAB Advancement. She is responsible for integrated Advancement communications, coordinating efforts between internal units such as Development, Alumni, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Events, as well as the UAB Office of Marketing and Communications and other units on campus.

In this expanded role, Lauren will play a key part in the Office of Advancement Impact and Engagement's push to streamline our communications efforts in the Annual Giving, Donor Relations and Engagement, and Communications teams. She will work closely with the Annual Giving team, particularly Director Clay Shannon, to develop and implement Annual Giving strategy.

"After joining Advancement in 2023, Lauren quickly established herself as integral to our Advancement communications efforts," Executive Director of Advancement Impact and Engagement Katie McDowell said. "She's known across campus for being a capable manager with a can-do attitude. She has done an excellent job helping the communications team become more efficient and effective in their work, and I'm excited for her to take on a broader role within our unit."

Prior to joining Advancement, Lauren served as the vice president of communications for the Birmingham Business Alliance and a reporter for the Birmingham Business Journal.
