JoAnn C. Hansen has been selected as executive director of the UAB St. Vincent’s Foundation.

In this role, JoAnn will lead the foundation’s philanthropic efforts, working closely with donors, community leaders, physicians, and staff to advance initiatives that enhance patient care, support caregivers, and strengthen UAB St. Vincent’s impact across the communities it serves.

JoAnn joins the foundation with more than two decades of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, she served as chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity Choptank in Trappe, Maryland. Her previous roles include chief executive officer of the Dorchester County Family YMCA in Cambridge, Maryland; vice president of financial development at Summit Area YMCA in Summit, New Jersey; and director of development at P.G. Chambers School in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey.

“JoAnn is a proven leader with experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, and community engagement,” said Megann Bates Cain, MPPM, Associate Vice President for Development for the UAB Heersink School of Medicine and UAB St. Vincent’s Foundation. “Her passion for service and history of building strong organizations will help advance the foundation’s priorities and further strengthen support for UAB St. Vincent’s patients, programs, and caregivers.”

JoAnn holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Eastern Illinois University, a master’s in human resources development from Roosevelt University, and a Master of Public Administration with a management specialization from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
