We’re excited to welcome Lucas Hoffman to UAB Advancement! Lucas is joining us as part-time Program Coordinator I for the Benevolent Fund.
In this role, he works with employees who face financial crises arising from medical emergencies, domestic violence, losses from disasters such as fires or tornadoes, and similar challenges. Lucas meets with each employee to listen to their situation, gather relevant documentation, and refer them to appropriate resources both on and off campus. He then prepares each case for presentation to a committee composed of Benevolent Fund Council members, who determine whether the employee’s circumstances demonstrate financial need and qualify for financial assistance.
Although Lucas is a new UAB employee, he’s been a Blazer for years. Lucas holds a bachelor's degree in psychology, an MBA, and a Master of Public Health from UAB. Most recently, he served as a Director of Client Services for ClearMind Inc. He also worked as a Family Program Coordinator for Bradford Health, where he educated families and inpatients on neuroanatomy and disease model of addiction. Before his UAB degrees, Lucas owned a massage therapy business.
Lucas lives in Bluff Park with his wife and two young children. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering at his children’s school, coaching little league baseball, writing, playing guitar, cooking, and a variety of arts and crafts.
Welcome to the team, Lucas!
