Stephen Frey has joined the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Development team as a development director, focused on donor cultivation for major gifts in the areas of neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery.
He brings 15 years of higher education philanthropy experience to this role. The past eight years of his career have focused on major gifts and planned giving. Most recently, he helped Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania successfully complete its campaign and establish best practices for athletic fundraising. Prior to that, he worked at several institutions in South Carolina.
Stephen holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies education from Taylor University in Indiana and was a history teacher in his former professional life.
He and his wife live in Vestavia Hills with their three children (ages 14, 12, and 10) and the family Beagle named Toby. He is a sports fan who enjoys watching Philadelphia’s teams and cheering for his wife’s alma mater, Clemson University.
