Birmingham, Al. – Alabama Organ Center, headquartered in Birmingham and Wilkins Miller, an Accounting and Financial Advisory Firm located in Mobile have been named the winners of the 2017 Alabama Performance Excellence Award.

These organizations, along with other individuals and groups, will be recognized and honored at the Annual Alabama Performance Excellence Program Conference and Banquet on May 9-10 at the Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park on Highway 280.

Alabama Organ Center and Wilkins Miller were recognized for their excellence in leadership; strategic planning; attention to customers and other stakeholders; market focus; process management and analysis of organizational performance.

The Alabama Performance Excellence Award, modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, honors organizations whose recent innovations increased productivity and quality within the organization. The improvement efforts include formal techniques or practices that are capable of being shared with other organizations with the expectation they will be replicated and contribute to state and national productivity and quality improvement. The Alabama Performance Excellence Award is administered by the Alabama Performance Excellence Program through its affiliation with UAB’s School of Health Profession, Collat School of Business and School of Engineering.     

Vanquish Worldwide’s Transporters Kaizen Team located at Fort Rucker will also be recognized as the winner of the Alabama Performance Excellence Award Team Showcase, Silver Level.

The Team Showcase recognizes teams for their performance and the results they achieved and for their efforts to educate other organizations throughout the state on the potential, benefits of empowered teams.

One of several featured keynotes at the conference will be Paul Grizzell, President of Core Values Partners, Inc., who will conduct a session “From Compliance to Excellence: Leading the Performance Excellence Journey”. Paul is an Alumni Examiner for the Baldrige National Quality Award and a Licensed Advisor, Trainer and Assessor for the European Quality Award.  Paul is co-author with Mark Blazey of Insights to Performance Excellence, An Inside Look at the Baldrige Award Criteria.
