Soumya J. Niranjan (PhD 2018) is an Assistant Professor in the UAB Department of Health Services Administration.

She is a Pharmacist by training and also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Investigation Sciences from University of Louisville. She is Associate Scientist at The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and The Minority Health & Health Disparities Research Center (MHRC).

Dr. Niranjan is a current recipient of the 2019-20 UAB Faculty Development Grant Program in which she will be evaluating the “Social Determinants of Lung Cancer Screening among Veterans”. Her research interests include health inequalities in cancer and chronic respiratory diseases. She is particularly interested in understanding key contributory factors for these disparities and shaping policies that improve patient health outcomes in underserved communities. Prior to joining the ranks of faculty, Dr. Niranjan has contributed to oncology clinical trials for more than 10 years at multiple academic medical centers.
