Title IX
The UAB Title IX Office works with students, University administration, departments, faculty, staff, campus police, and other support services to ensure that University policies and programs foster a campus community free of sex discrimination including gender - based assault, harassment, exploitation, dating and domestic violence, stalking as well as discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identify and gender expression, and related retaliation.
Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The mission of the ODEI office is to champion equity and inclusion and, in particular, to advocate for inclusive excellence and equity so that UAB students, faculty, staff, community partners and friends can flourish and excel. Resources offered include institutional equity partners, diversity education, engagement and civility resources.

Self - Defense/UAB Police Training
The UAB Police & Public Safety Department routinely providing the Rape Aggression Defense program as a service to the women of the UAB community.

Rave Guardian is one of the best ways to improve your personal safety and protect your friends by building your own private safety network. This free app provides instant communications with friends, family, co-workers, UAB Police, and even 911 in the event of an emergency.

UAB Human Resources offers a variety of information, including benefits, learning and development, policies, and even a list of perks for UAB employees.
Faculty Ombuds
The UAB Faculty Ombuds Office is a neutral resource available to all faculty. The office offers a confidential place to discuss workplace issues, academic concerns, issues relating to admini strative paperwork and process, explanation and interpretation of policies and procedures, and many other problems.
Employee Assistance & Counseling Center
UAB Employee Assistance & Counseling Center offers free, confidential support services for UAB employees and members of their immediate household. A dedicated team of certified counselors, an extensive collection of online resources and a schedule of programs and events are designed to help you iden tify, understand and resolve work - related and personal issues to help you achieve a successful work/life integration.
Student Resources
One Stop Student Services Complaints
UAB is committed to reviewing and responding to student complaints appropriately. A complaint is an expression of discontent based on the result of behavior or circumstances that the student believes are unjust, unsafe, inequitable, or create an unnecessary hardship.
Trio Academic Services
Trio Academic Services helps improve student success with programs such as free tutoring, graduate school visits and other resources. TRIO’s goal is to help students stay in school and graduate.
Student Career Center
The Career Center provides innovative career programs and resources to students, alumni, employers, faculty, and families. All services are free to students and alumni.
Student Counseling Center
Student Counseling Services supports students in achieving personal, academic and lifelong goals by providing individual and group mental health services, prevention and outreach programming, crisis and emergency support, and consultation services.
Family Resources
Child Care
The UAB Child Development Center has provided quality care and instruction exclusively for children of UAB employees since 1995. The CDC is an equal opportunity provider of childcare services serving ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
Lactation Centers
The UAB Commission on the Status of Women has worked to provide lactation centers on campus. The Shelby Building Lactation Center, located at the rear of the first - floor women's restroom, was the first lactation center on campus located outside of the hospital. It is open to all university faculty, staff, and students. Other centers have more limited usage.
Blazer Kitchen (two locations)
Blazer Kitchen increases food security in the UAB community by providing healthy food, resources, and referrals to UAB employees, students, patients and their families. Two locations are available on campus , Hill Student Center and Medical Towers.
