ACE Women’s Network
The ACE Women’s Network is a national system of networks within each state, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia with the goal of advancing and supporting women in higher education.
African American Faculty Association
The African American Faculty Association at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is committed to recruiting, retaining, and supporting African American faculty, providing faculty with support and mentoring for professional development, advocating for African American faculty and their needs and concerns, promoting communication and networking between Association faculty and other faculty groups, supporting faculty and student activities, and encouraging participation in campus governance.
American Medical Women’s Association
Founded in 1915, AMWA was the first national organization of women's physicians, and it continues to advocate and provide support for women in the medical fields throughout the United States.
Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship
The Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship fosters an entrepreneurial ecosystem at UAB and provides the infrastructure required for students, staff, and faculty to commercialize innovation on campus, within the community, and beyond.
Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate represents UAB’s faculty in matters of shared governance. The Senate is made up of faculty representatives from all of UAB’s academic units, as well as four officers elected at large by the faculty. Through our participation in various councils and committees, we convey the faculty’s views and concerns in matters that affect our University.

Staff Council
The mission of the UAB Staff Council is to support the vision, mission, values and goals of the University while providing a voice for staff on issues related to them. We will do this through assessment, prioritization, and communication of staff ideas to University administration while promoting a positive collaborative work environment for all.
UAB Women in STEM
The goal of UAB Women in STEM is to empower, encourage, and enlighten women in STEM fields at UAB while educating the general population about issues women in STEM face.
