Mr. Gokmen Pacal, an MS student in transportation engineering, was selected to receive a scholarship award from the Gulf Region Intelligent Transportation Systems (GRITS) organization.  The award was based on his essay titled “The Future of Communications in Transportation” and was presented at the  2018 Gulf Region ITS Workshop in Oxford, MS on November 8th, 2018.  Gokmen is a Graduate Student Trainee at the TREND Lab and is an advisee of Dr. Virginia Sisiopiku. He serves as the 2018-19 Vice President of the UAB ITE Student Chapter.
