Identifying Fellowships

Maybe you’re looking for a funded summer research experience or study abroad program. Or, you’re searching for scholarships for graduate school or funding for your dissertation research. We’re glad to help you brainstorm possible funding opportunities. Email us at fellowships@uab.edu to schedule an appointment (it helps if you include the days and times you’re generally available to meet!).

**NOTE: Our office does not maintain these sites. However, we are glad to support your application to nationally-competitive scholarships you identify through these databases.

Crafting a Competitive Application

Most nationally-competitive fellowship applications ask you to do two things: tell your story and share your specific goals and ambitions.

We know that writing about yourself and your loftiest dreams can be difficult. It’s hard to put yourself out there, and it’s natural to feel a little imposter syndrome (or a lot!). We’re here to support you every step of the way, including:

  • Serving as a thought partner as you brainstorm essay topics
  • Suggesting possible revisions to your essay drafts
  • Reviewing your CV or resume
  • Advising you on potential recommenders
  • Obtaining necessary transcripts
  • Connecting you to past recipients of scholarships
  • Preparing you for any virtual or in-person interviews

Reviewing the Basics

From crafting your CV to navigating a foundation’s complicated website, we’re working to build a collection of helpful videos you can use as a resource throughout the application process.

We’re also archiving all virtual info-sessions, so in case you missed the live broadcast or just want to review the Q&A, we’ve got you covered!
