Help UAB Respond to the Coronavirus Outbreak

Whether it's fueling research, supporting patient care, helping a student in need, or uplifting a UAB employee, we need your help in the fight against COVID-19. Here are ways you can support the university's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Help UAB Researchers
Find a Cure

In order to care for those infected, find a vaccine, and protect our own lives, we need to build up our supplies and technology. Donate to the UAB Coronavirus Response Support Fund to treat patients as well as support our research for a COVID-19 cure.

Help UAB Students
in COVID-19 Crisis

From early moving expenses to lost wages and more, the disruption to the school year affects so much more than just classes. Consider donating to the Student COVID-19 Emergency Fund to help offset the impact felt by our students.

Employee fund

Help UAB Employees
Make Ends Meet

The coronavirus pandemic is hurting the economy across the globe—and right here in Birmingham. Many of our UAB staff members and their families need your generosity now more than ever. Help them get through this crisis with a donation to the UAB Benevolent Fund or Blazer Kitchen.

COVID-19 Symptom Tracker

Help Power UAB's
COVID-19 Symptom Tracker

UAB researchers are gathering data from residents of Alabama and beyond to learn how COVID-19 is spreading and which areas are being hit the hardest—and which will need the most resources. Your gift to the COVID-19 Symptom Tracker fund will help grow data collection and management with a focus on healthcare disparities in underserved populations.

PPE

Help Provide Personal
Protective Equipment

The demand for personal protective equipment grows daily. We need to protect our staff while they work to stop the spread of COVID-19. When you give, your dollars help fund essential protective gear for our caregivers.

Blood drive

Donate
Blood

Overwhelming public response to the request for blood donations has greatly improved the blood supply in the short term, but the need will continue for the next several months. Individuals can donate blood every six weeks. Find drives and make appointments at lifesouth.org and redcrossblood.org

Together, We're Winning the Fight

The impact of your support has been felt across the UAB community. We put out the call for help, and you—our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends—answered. As a result, our students in need have a place to live. Our healthcare heroes were provided with more than 16,000 meals while they cared for sick patients. Our faculty are conducting 28 coronavirus-related research projects funded by philanthropy. And that's just the beginning. Read on to discover how your dollars are making a difference. Yes, COVID-19 is strong. But here's the proof that, together, we are stronger.

“The outpouring of support from churches, synagogues, restaurants, businesses and individuals in our community has been amazing. The donations made by these groups and so many others to support the Meals for Heroes campaign just shows what a great community we live in. Our health care workers have been heroic in their efforts during this pandemic, and our community has been equally heroic in their flood of care and encouragement.”
