Meals for Heroes

With hours-long shifts and so much to do, many of our healthcare workers and administrative staff aren’t able to take breaks long enough to grab a meal. Help bring them something to eat so they can stay focused on the fight against COVID-19.

Since April 1, UAB’s Meals for Heroes program has provided food to thousands of UAB healthcare workers at multiple UAB hospitals and the remote COVID-19 testing site. Organized by the UAB Food Services staff, Meals for Heroes is placing orders with local restaurants and caterers in an effort to help our community partners. Your gift will help fuel our caregivers with the energy they need to push onward—and we’re doing our part by using as many local businesses as possible.

Are you a restaurant owner who wants to give to the cause? Local restaurants can help feed our front-line responders by donating individual, pre-wrapped items such as personal pan pizzas, boxed salads, or boxed sandwiches. For donations and questions, call the UAB Department of Food and Nutrition Services at 205-934-4718 or Charlotte Beeker at This email address is being protected from spambots.
