50 awardees were honored on Wednesday April 27 at the 2016 CIRTL Awards Ceremony. To prepare for careers in STEM and Social Sciences, these graduate students and postdocs from across campus have undertaken training to develop their college teaching skills through UAB’s Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning.

cirtl awards ceremony 2016 Dr. Robert Palazzo, Dean of UAB College of Arts & Sciences, delivered a keynote address congratulating recipients on their accomplishments, noting that these are the kinds of professional skills that will help them stand out among their peers.

This academic year, 39 awardees earned CIRTL Associate Certificates by taking 3 Professional Development courses on teaching and learning. Nine participants achieved CIRTL Practitioner by completing 15 credit hours to earn Class A Certificates in College Teaching, and Three CIRTL Scholars developed Teaching-As-Research projects to demonstrate their expertise in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
