Innovate Fellow

Stevan Fairburn is currently a student in the Heersink School of Medicine at UAB. He is also earning an AI in Medicine Graduate Certificate through the Marnix E. Heersink Institute for Biomedical Innovation. Stevan earned his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a commission as a second lieutenant from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He hopes to pursue a career in surgery, with a focus on the current and future uses of AI, quantum computing, and big data in surgical innovations.

Stevan believes that promoting innovation is the linchpin for revolutionizing the practice of medicine to better patient outcomes through more robust adoption of cutting-edge technology. He draws inspiration from the incredible colleagues and mentors he’s surrounded by at UAB, in the medical profession, and in the Air Force. In his free time, he enjoys strength and endurance training, writing, and performing music.
