“My kidneys collapsed on me on Dec. 9 after 20-plus years of high blood pressure. The medications I had been on to control my blood pressure caused my kidneys to start failing.
“I had to do dialysis for about a month and a half before I received a kidney.
“It’s been great since the surgery. I don’t have to be sick every day. I can go to the bathroom like normal people, which let me just say, is wonderful! Going to the emergency room every week was not fun.
“I’m doing very well. I’m exercising and doing everything. So my kidney is working well.”
