The UAB Media Commons offers media production spaces fully equipped with the latest media production hardware and software. Our resources serve the College of Arts and Science’s media production courses including the Film, Visual Media Production, and Media Studies courses.
Media Commons
The Media Commons consists of the Media Lab, Media Classroom, and Soundlab. They are located on the third floor of Heritage Hall.
Media Lab
The Media Lab is a production lab for solo and collaborative media work.
Media Classroom
The Media Classroom is an innovative classroom space for teaching and learning.
Sound Lab
The Sound Lab is a voiceover and podcast production studio that also functions as a collaborative meeting space.
Media Studio
The Media Studio is a full-featured production studio for film and multi-media production work.

The Media Commons provides students and faculty with access to the latest technology for enhanced learning. Technology enables students and faculty to incorporate digital media into instruction, create documentary films, produce and record compelling oral histories, and explore the boundaries of their imaginations.
The Media Classroom is a teaching and learning space equipped for any type of class.

The Media Studio provides students and faculty with access to a full-featured production space that is adaptable to most media production needs. The technology in the Media Studio enables students and faculty to create narrative and documentary films, incorporate digital media into instruction, and explore the boundaries of their imaginations.
